All of our trade mark partners are qualified as Registered Trade Mark Attorneys and are entered on the list of professional representatives at the European Community Trade Marks Office (OHIM) in Alicante. Their clients range from small businesses to worldwide portfolios, and they also specialise in handling EU applications on behalf of American attorneys.

Alan Bernard

CPA, EPA, MITMA. Honours degree in Physics and Philosophy, joined fJ Cleveland in 1976, qualified 1979, and founded the Trade Mark Department in 1986. Extensive experience in all areas of trade mark law and practice, including representing clients at final opposition and appeal hearings.

Jonathan Clegg

FITMA. MA in Classics from Magdalene College, Cambridge. Joined fJ Cleveland in 1989, qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 1992, and became a partner in 1996. A former examiner for the final professional examination in trade marks, he is co-author - with Imogen Wiseman - of the acclaimed chapters on opposition practice in a joint ITMA and CIPA handbook on CTM practice. He is also a committee member of INTA.

Lorna Hobbs

MITMA. Honours degree in English from Christ Church, Oxford. Joined fJ Cleveland in 1988, and qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 1992 - winning the Elizabeth Bennett Memorial Award for first place overall in her finals. She became a partner in 1996.

Imogen Wiseman

FITMA. Honours degree in English from York University. Joined fJ Cleveland in 1995, gaining full qualification in 1999 and became a partner in 2003. Imogen is active in ITMA, serving on Council and its education committee. Examiner for trade mark final examinations. Co-author - with Jonathan Clegg - of the acclaimed chapters on oppositions in the CIPA/ITMA CTM handbook, and editor of the CIPA/ITMA Handbook on Community Designs.

Peter Houlihan

MITMA. Has an honours degree from St John's College, Oxford University, where he read Classics. Joined fJ Cleveland in 1997 and became fully qualified in 2002.

Yasmine Hashim

MITMA. First class honours degree in chemistry. Qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 2005 winning first prize for one of the foundation exams. Yasmine has over 13 years experience in trade marks and other aspects of intellectual property including IP litigation and commercial IP gained in private practice and industry. She is also a tutor in IP and Commercial Law at BPP Law School. She joined FJ Cleveland as an associate in March 2006.

Joanna Larkey

MITMA. Has an honours degree from York University where she read English. She has 17 years experience of working exclusively in the area of trade marks, and she is qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney. She joined us as an associate in 1999.

Louise Westbury

MITMA. Honours degree in Law from University College London and qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 1994. Louise previously qualified as a barrister and has experience in private practice and in industry. She has been an active member of ITMA including serving on Council and contributing to the ITMA/CIPA UK Trade Marks Handbook. She joined fJ Cleveland in February 2005.

Sarah Cannon

Sarah has a degree in applied science from the University of Canberra and worked as a trade mark examiner at the Australian Trade Marks Office before joining fJ Cleveland. She passed her foundation level exams in April 2006 and became fully qualified in 2008.

Rebecca Silva

Rebecca has a degree in Law and Chemistry from Exeter University. Rebecca joined fJ Cleveland in 2003, passed her foundation level trade mark examinations in 2005 and became fully qualified in 2008.
